I am currently a graduate student in the Applied Anthropology program at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, USA. My focus is on the archaeology of North America, which I hope to use in the area of heritage preservation and cultural understanding.
My special area of interest is the Spanish colonization effort in the eastern United States during the 16th century. I am especially interested in the use of trade goods by the indigenous populations. In addition, I am interested in later settlement of rural areas.
My goal is to work to help the people of North America understand and connect to their past, by helping individuals and communities explore and preserve their own heritage. I hope to do this through public archaeology and outreach efforts. Furthermore, I want individual groups and communities to preserve and celebrate their unique cultural heritage while at the same time integrating that culture into the unique tapestry that surrounds them.
